Noronha da Costa

Filmmaker, painter and architect graduate by Fine Arts High School of Lisbon, from among the many awards won emphasize the European Culture Prize, given by the European Parliament. As neo-romantic artist, his artistic practice mobilizes diverse cultural data, such as Architecture, Cinema, Object, Philosophy and Painting. Sfumato, a technique introduced in the heyday of Western figurative painting, overlapping the sharp linear boundary, in Noronha`s work causes the expansion of the spots. Diaphanous, without volume and weight, the figures are fleeting condensation of variously colored lights. The silhouettes, rather than represent objects, set out plans folded to openly. There are no shadows cast by objects, or even floor. There are shadows of their own, as there are lights themselves.
